MONEL 400 (UNS N04400) Ni 66.5 Cu 31.5 Description

June 08, 2021

monel 400 is a nickel-Copper Alloy, resistant to sea water, high temperature steam, salt and corrosive solutions.

Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in various media. Monel 400 is characterized by good general corrosion resistance, good weldability and medium to high strength. This alloy has been widely used. It has excellent resistance to fast-flowing salt water or sea water. When hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid are degassed, it is particularly resistant to hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acid. This alloy is slightly magnetic at room temperature. Monel 400 is widely used in chemical, petroleum, marine and other industries.

Corrosion resistance in a wide range of marine and chemical environments. From pure water to non-oxidizing mineral acids, salts and alkalis.
This alloy is more resistant to nickel than copper under reducing conditions, and more resistant to copper than copper under oxidizing conditions, but it is better than oxidizing in terms of reducing media.
Good mechanical properties from sub-zero temperatures up to about 480 degrees Celsius.
Good resistance to sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid. However, aeration can increase the corrosion rate. It can be used to treat hydrochloric acid, but the presence of oxidizing salts will greatly accelerate corrosion.
It is resistant to neutral salts, alkaline salts and acidic salts, but has poor resistance to oxidative acid salts (such as ferric chloride).
Excellent resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking.
Water supply and steam generator piping.
Brine heaters, seawater scrubbers in tanker inert gas systems.
Sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid alkylation unit.
Heating coil for pickling rod.
Heat exchangers in various industries.
Pipeline for crude oil tower transmission in oil refinery.
A plant that refines uranium and separates isotopes in the production of nuclear fuel.
Used in the manufacture of pumps and valves for vinyl chloride and chlorinated plastics.
Monoethanolamine (MEA) reboiler tube.
The cladding of the upper area of the crude oil tower in the refinery.
Propeller and pump shaft.
